There is bedroom pop and then there’s bedroom cassette, the sorta tape your friend hands you where you’re lost on descriptors because their noodling fills your head. Plenty of looped guitar, spring vocals and sun drenched reverb on Existentia Cicada. For all its simplicity and the seeming immediateness of the recording, it’s meditative and well timed.
The cassette has 23 track sketches on them, averaging a minute or two probably written over the course of a few flings and flirts. The songs are at once familiar and unresolved in the way stream of consciousness feels. This tape is filed under easy Sundays. Grab a copy from the youthful Swan City Sounds.
